Bronze Horse League

10th January 2009

Cheval's annual Winter League commenced on 10th Jan this year. The cold day didn’t dampen anyone's spirits with a large number of competitors bracing the elements to get that first show under their hat.

In the mini class mother & daughter Lynch campaigned their new mount Marley & made the trip worth while with Ciara taking 1st and Michelle taking 2nd. Marley, who was only broken last year, will be Michelle's new steed for the up coming NER league and we wish her all the best. In the Midi class, Maeve O Sullivan (Lara) took top honours with Robert's daughter Sarah Jane (Champion) coming a close second.  A special mention must go to Sandra Collins (Sparrow) who took home 4th in her first Advanced Primary Class and to Robert Flanagan who took 7th with Romeo.

Sarah Jane (Champion) continued her good form taking 1st in the Maxi Class with Lorna Gissane (Gringo) taking 2nd. The maxi class, which had a large number of entries, seen the return of 2 mare's who have been out of action for quite some time on maternity leave - Lady Jane (6th) & Zola (11th ) .We wish both Mag’s and Paul the best of luck for 2009.

In the last class of the day, the super maxi, Maria, Laura and Paul fought it out for the top spot. Laura, who had 2 mounts in the class claimed 1st place with My Foxy Lass, with Paul (Zola) taking second, Maria (Flashdance) taking third and Laura taking fourth (Church View Lad). Well done to Maria who has only recently upgraded.

25th January 2009

The second leg of the Cheval Winter league took place on Sat 25th Jan - the day started off very cold & frosty. Special thanks must go to new member Bambi Franklin for harrowing the sand in order to break it up and thaw it out and to Robert Flanagan who helped build the track.

In the mini class Barbara Mackey took 1st place, Shannon McGivergen (Zak) took 2nd and Shannon’s friend Laura took 3rd. In the Midi Class Sarah Jane Flanagan and Champion secured first again this week with Saskia Reuiter (Shannon) taking 2nd. Niamh McCarthy took 3rd and Susan Kennedy 4th.

In the Maxi class the competition was fierce with Sarah Jane Flanagan (Champion) and Saskia Reuiter (Shannon) fighting it out again with the pair placing the same as the midi class. Ashling McKenna (Turbo) took 3rd and Lorna Gissane (Gringo) took 4th.

In the last class of the day Laura Carrick took 1st and 2nd with Church View Lad and My Foxy Lass respectively.  Maria Carrick took 3rd with Flashdance.

The competition is now hoting up for the mini/midi/maxi league and the Cheval bronze horses.  With three legs left it is still all very much to play for.
